24-Hour Gym Entrance Camera Placement Guide

For an unstaffed or partially staffed gym, the entrance is the highest-value evidence zone because access-control events, guest entry and after-hours incidents all pass through one choke point.

Pair access logs with a fixed entrance view. The camera should show the person entering and enough doorway context to review tailgating without intruding into locker/changing areas.

What to capture

Frontal or near-frontal face as members approach.
Door opening and closing.
Enough vestibule context to see whether multiple people enter on one credential.
Exterior approach if the doorway is exposed or isolated.

Avoid privacy-sensitive spaces

Do not extend surveillance into locker rooms, changing rooms or restrooms. Keep the entry scene tightly framed around the controlled doorway and public transition space, and check local rules for audio recording separately.

Night and backlight

Glass doors can create severe contrast between a dark interior and bright exterior lighting. Test the scene both before dawn and after dark, not just during daytime commissioning.
