Best IK10 Security Camera With Optical Zoom
When a camera is reachable enough to need vandal resistance but the final evidence zone cannot be framed perfectly before installation, the useful combination is IK10 housing plus motorized optical zoom.
| Model | Impact / weather | Lens | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| RLC-843A | IK10 / IP67 | 2.7–13.5mm, 5× optical | Best verified zoom + vandal-resistance combination |
| RLC-840A | IK10 / IP67 | Fixed wide lens | Better value when framing is known at installation |
| Duo 3V PoE | IK10 / IP67 | 180° panoramic dual lens | Wide situational awareness instead of optical zoom |
Why optical zoom matters
Digital zoom enlarges pixels already captured. Optical zoom narrows the field of view before the image reaches the sensor, concentrating more pixels on a gate, register, doorway or vehicle lane. That can be much more useful for evidence than simply buying a higher-resolution wide camera.
When IK10 is worth paying for
IK10 is most relevant for reachable cameras: low exterior walls, parking garages, apartment entries, storefronts and other sites where impact or tampering is realistic. For an inaccessible eave, a conventional IP67 bullet may be simpler and cheaper.
