Construction Equipment Yard Security Camera System Guide

Equipment yards are perimeter-and-choke-point problems. The most valuable cameras usually cover the gate, fuel, machinery rows and access roads—not every square foot equally.

Design around the gate first. If every vehicle must pass one entrance, that location can provide stronger evidence than several wide perimeter cameras.

Priority zones

  • Vehicle gate with dedicated entry/exit context.
  • Plate lane if plate evidence is required.
  • Fuel tanks and fueling area.
  • High-value machinery rows and attachment storage.
  • Perimeter gaps and remote approaches.
  • Workshop / parts building doors.

Power and network are often the real constraints

If Ethernet reaches the yard, PoE simplifies continuous local recording. Remote edges may require point-to-point wireless bridges, cellular or solar/battery designs. Use the Remote Security hub for those architectures.
