Pharmacy Security Camera Placement Guide
A pharmacy needs strong transaction and access evidence without treating every customer interaction as a close-up surveillance target. Design around entrances, controlled access and cash/prescription handoff zones.
Privacy-aware design: frame the security event, not confidential paperwork or screens. Applicable privacy and audio-recording rules vary by jurisdiction and organization, so review local requirements before deployment.
Priority zones
| Zone | Security goal | Camera approach |
|---|---|---|
| Main entrance | Face and direction of travel | Controlled frontal geometry |
| Checkout | Transaction disputes and cash handling | Counter context without unnecessary screen/document detail |
| Prescription pickup | Handoff context | Frame people and counter, minimize readable private information |
| Staff / controlled-access doors | Unauthorized entry | Dedicated doorway camera |
| Receiving / stockroom | Delivery and inventory movement | Entry and staging-zone coverage |
Do not use one camera for the whole counter
A wide retail overview can explain movement but often cannot resolve the exact handoff or person at a busy counter. Use a tighter evidence view where justified, then keep general floor coverage broader.
Use the Business Camera Count Planner for a first-pass channel count and the Commercial Project Cost Calculator for budget scenarios.
