“Local storage” on a doorbell can mean three very different things: footage stored inside the doorbell, footage stored on an indoor chime or hub, or footage stored locally only after you purchase a specific subscription-enabled base station feature.
Best local architecture
An indoor hub or chime is usually more resilient than storage inside the doorbell because a stolen doorbell does not take the only copy of the clip. The system should also allow playback and export without a mandatory cloud-history plan.
Cloud account versus cloud recording
A doorbell can require a vendor account for setup or remote app access while still storing footage locally. That is different from requiring cloud recording for all history. Keep those two dependencies separate in your evaluation.
