Liquor Store POS Camera Placement Guide

The checkout camera should answer who was at the register, what happened across the counter and when—not merely prove that a transaction took place somewhere in a wide scene.

Best practice: use a dedicated POS view plus a separate entrance face camera. A single ceiling overview usually sacrifices too much detail on both jobs.

Frame the transaction zone

Include the customer side of the counter and staff working position.
Keep enough hand/counter context to review exchanges and cash handling.
Avoid spending half the frame on ceiling, floor or shelving.
Use stable fixed framing rather than PTZ as the only evidence view.

Do not aim at sensitive payment details unnecessarily

The goal is transaction context, not recording PIN entry or card credentials. Frame the interaction while minimizing unnecessary capture of keypad or screen detail, and review local privacy/security requirements for audio recording separately.

Pair POS with entrance evidence
