Laundromat Cameras for Change-Machine Vandalism
A payment or change machine is a predictable high-value interaction point. The camera should show who approached it, what they did at the machine and how they entered or left the room.
Use two evidence levels: a tighter machine view plus a wider room/entry view for identity and movement context.
What to preserve
- Face geometry on approach.
- Hands and tools around the machine.
- The machine door, payment interface or cash-access area.
- Movement to and from the entrance.
Do not aim straight down
A ceiling-only view may show the top of a person's head and the machine but not a usable face. Offset the camera so the interaction surface and approach path remain visible.
Retention matters
Damage may be discovered after an unattended overnight period. Size retention for delayed discovery rather than just immediate alarms.
