Laundromat Change-Machine Camera Placement Guide
The change machine or payment kiosk is a concentrated evidence zone: cash, cards, disputes, vandalism and loitering all converge in a small area that deserves its own view.
Use one dedicated payment-zone camera. Do not rely on a distant machine-row overview to resolve a transaction or tampering incident.
What the payment-zone view should show
- Person approaching and using the machine.
- Hands and machine front from a useful angle.
- Enough surrounding context to connect the event to the entrance and machine rows.
- No unnecessary close-up of PINs, card data or private screens.
Pair it with entrance and row context
An entrance camera answers who entered and when. Machine-row views explain movement before and after the payment event. The dedicated change-machine view bridges the two.
Lighting and tamper resistance
Payment areas are often near glass storefronts or bright signage. Check backlight at the actual time of day. If the camera is reachable, consider a tougher dome/IK-rated design and route cabling so it cannot be easily pulled.
