Cellular Security Camera Data Calculator
Estimate how much mobile data event uploads and live viewing could consume each month.
How the estimate works
At a fixed bitrate, one megabit per second is about 0.45 GB per hour. The calculator totals event-video seconds and live-view seconds over 30 days, then converts transmitted megabits to gigabytes.
Why real usage differs
Cameras can use variable bitrate, upload thumbnails, send audio, retry failed transfers and download firmware. Motion frequency can also spike. Use this as a planning estimate rather than an exact carrier-billing prediction.
Live viewing is the expensive behavior
Short event clips may use modest data. Repeatedly opening a live HD stream can dominate the monthly total. If you are sizing a mobile plan for a jobsite or remote property, model realistic daily viewing rather than assuming you will never check the camera.
