LOCKLY vs SwitchBot Lock Pro: Fingerprint Lock vs Retrofit Ecosystem

Compare LOCKLY Secure Pro and SwitchBot Lock Pro by full-replacement vs retrofit design, fingerprint access, PINs, Wi-Fi, guest codes and smart-home integration.

Updated September 14, 2026 · SecurityVerdicts research desk

LOCKLY Secure Pro and SwitchBot Lock Pro solve the same access problem with opposite hardware strategies. LOCKLY replaces the lock and integrates fingerprint plus PIN entry directly into the product. SwitchBot mounts over existing interior hardware and adds fingerprint through a separate keypad.

Fast verdict: choose LOCKLY when integrated fingerprint/PIN entry is the main requirement. Choose SwitchBot when preserving the current exterior lock and using a broader smart-home ecosystem matters more.

LOCKLY's advantage: integrated access methods

Secure Pro includes a fingerprint reader and PIN Genie keypad in the lock itself, plus a Wi-Fi hub and wired door sensor. That reduces accessory sprawl if biometric and keypad entry are non-negotiable.

SwitchBot's advantage: reversible retrofit

SwitchBot keeps more of the existing door hardware in place and can be attractive for renters or users who want to preserve the exterior appearance. Its tradeoff is that many advanced features depend on accessories.

Guest-access limits matter

LOCKLY currently allows a limited number of free Offline Access Codes per month and reserves additional property/code management for LocklyOS tiers. Compare that with the complete SwitchBot keypad/hub workflow before choosing a rental-property system.

Bottom line

LOCKLY is the integrated lock. SwitchBot is the modular retrofit. The better choice depends on whether you want fewer accessories or less permanent change to the door.
